    • I really enjoyed this story, it was a fast read and very entertaining. I felt an immediate connection to Jaye and Jake. Their banter was easy going and realistic. Will definitely be reading more of her books!Favorite Quote:"I was such a slut. Hallelujah"

    • Romantic suspense is a favorite of mine and this series has been on my TBR list for a long time. I can’t believe it took me so long to read this terrific book!!J.J. Graves gave up her life as a doctor when her parents died in a suspicious suicide a year ago. Moving back to her small home town Bloody Mary (excellent name btw ;-) ) to run the family funeral home. But death in Bloody Mary is slow business and hardly ever does a murder occur. Until now… I loved Jaye and her dry wit and sarcastic [...]

    • I really wanted to like this book. It had everything in it that I normally like- mystery, suspense, hot guys and it was free. And I love free!!But I just couldn't get over how annoying J.J. was. I feel like the author wanted to make her a strong female despite what she had been through in her past, but ended up making her look pathetic. She is basically 'in love' (and yes I'm using air quotes) with Brody within five minute. They fall into bed even quicker, which isn't hot, but instead comes off [...]

    • This is a new series by Liliana Hart featuring small town mortician and coroner J.J.Graves, who has recently returned home to Bloody Mary, Virginia after the death of her parents. J.J. feels pressured to give up her career as an ER doctor in order to take over the family funeral home business. After the death of her parents she learned (when the FBI came calling) that her parents had been engaged in illegal activities.J.J. is a great character. She is smart, strong, and wounded. She is also a sm [...]

    • Holy Macaroni. This book was soo good.So good. The story is very interesting and well written.Nothing seemed rushed and there are a couple of twists, but I had my suspicions so I wasn't really surprised by the ending. The main character is one sarcastic little shit which means that I adore her.I have to admit that I didn't expect to find so much humor in this book.Boy,I was laughing my ass off.Jack is my new fictional crush,I mean, how perfect is he?Ugh,I need Jack in my life. The only thing that I di [...]

    • Synopsis:J.J. Graves has seen a lot of dead bodies in her line of workShe's not only in the mortuary business, but she's also the coroner for King George County, Virginia. When a grisly murder is discovered in the small town of Bloody Mary, it's up to J.J. and her best friend, Detective Jack Lawson, to bring the victim justice. The murders are piling upWhen a popular mystery writer shows up on J.J.'s doorstep with plans of writing his new book about the Bloody Mary Serial Killer, J.J. has to deci [...]

    • This book was fun, with a likable heroine and enjoyable dialog. There were a few problems - I didn't like that the investigators were down on the psychologist for not handing over files without a warrant. That's not being uncooperative, that's just trying to hang on to your professional license. The relationship between JJ and the mysterious Brody lacks enough depth to be terribly compelling. I will say, however, that the author did a pretty good job of making their relationship steamy without b [...]

    • Dirty Little Secrets was a really good start to the series, and I'm looking forward to continuing with the other books. J.J. was a great character, and I enjoyed many of the secondary characters as well, especially Jack. The mystery kept me interested, as well as kept me guessing. I enjoyed the setting of the small fictional community of Bloody Mary, Virginia. I thought the town and its residents added a great deal to the story. J.J. Graves has come home to Bloody Mary, Virginia to take over her [...]

    • Read in less than a day. The author has a sense of humor and writes in a similar vein to Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum mysteries, but with a bit less physical comedy. Started out like a pretty good who-dun-it serial killer mystery with a little three-way romance mixed in. Not the kinky kind - the Guy and Girl are friends since childhood but nothing more until the new guy shows up and sweeps her off her feet making the old friend a little jealous…at kind of three way. The murder mystery clue [...]

    • I am a bit conflicted over this book. I really enjoyed the snarky humorous style of the author & main character JJ Graves and found myself laughing out loud more than once. The murderer eluded me for awhile as my thoughts on Who Done It? wavered between characters. I really liked Jack & the dynamics between him & Jaye. But on the downside, this story never really gelled for me - I tried to grab on & make a connection but it bounced around a little too much for me. I didn't buy in [...]

    • A great crime fiction that hooked me from the beginning. It's a must read for crime fiction lovers. The characters are good and easy to connect. The resolution also turned out to be quite unique and interesting. And this book is not dirty at all, its in fact a decent read.

    • Major DNF I mean, wow. This book took a massive nosedive right around 20% with the introduction of Brody. I stopped reading at ~25% and simply skimmed the rest of the book.I read Liliana Hart's Addison Holmes series about 2 years ago and loved it. I did a re-read earlier this month and, although I didn't like it as much, it was still pretty entertaining. I then found Dirty Little Secrets on for free and I just had to read it. The blurb mentioned "best friend" Detective Jack Lawson and I was alr [...]

    • This review is from: Dirty Little Secrets: A J.J. Graves Mystery (Paperback)I really hate being a copy cat, but I just had to give this book the 5 stars it deserves like everyone else to now has done. This book had an interesting mix of humor, sarcasm, mystery and romance and an ultra surprising ending.J.J. "Jaye" Graves is a mortician and she is also the coroner of her small community. At one time she was a Doctor in a decent sized hospital until her parents died together under suspicious circum [...]

    • Well this was unexpectedly enjoyable! I downloaded this book for free from and wasn’t particularly looking forward to reading it. Most Kindle freebies are worthless but the reviews for this book were pretty good and I hadn’t read a mystery for while so I thought I’d give this one a try.I have to say it had been a long time since I enjoyed reading a mystery but here the story was entertaining and the plot was fast paced. So much so that I read the book in one single sitting. I thought I ha [...]

    • Not bad, but not great, either. I liked it, but didn't love it.Things I didn't like:There were several typos and grammatical errors. One I can think of off the top of my head was the use of "peak your interest" as opposed to "pique your interest".Also, the murderer was introduced earlier in the book, and then never really brought up again, so that when the time for the big reveal came, I was all, "Wait a minutewho's this now?" I felt that character should have been incorporated into the story a [...]

    • 4.5 out of 5. One of the best, well-written and funny romance/mystery novels I have read recently. The heroine and the hero are best friends and know one another like the back of their hands. So nothing is sacred and everything in their lives is fair game. The repartee sparkles. Yet there is lots of sadness, grieving, murder and mayhem, questions that don't seem to have any answers, and a serial killer whose identity will shock readers. It won't really be known until the very end. As the first i [...]

    • Exactly my kind of story. Independent woman with a snarky sense of humor and two hotties vying for her affection. It's not the BEST writing, but I'd definitely want to read more from this author. Certainly no glaring plot issues or character flaws, just some minor grammar stuff.

    • Great freebie! Of course, they do that to get people to read the rest of the series. Well, it worked on me;) Fast paced with interesting characters. Hart was fade to black on the love scenes, but maybe that's because these weren't with "the" guy. I liked it enough to continue, regardless

    • 4.5 StarsI left this book in my TBR pile for far too long because now I'm hooked on Jaye and Jack and the mysteries they solve in Bloody Mary, Virginia. This book actually gave me nightmares. I completely freaked out my husband when I woke up screaming. This is not for the faint of heart. There are some gruesome murders being investigated and while there is a romance element - everything is 'behind closed doors' - which was fine because I was reading the story more for the mystery. There are a l [...]

    • Review written for theereaderjunkie.wordpressI am in the mood for suspenses these days, romantic or not, so I thought that instead of buying new ones, I should read the ones I already own and I bought that freebie… well, 2 years ago. So this review is kind of COYER ! See, I’m being all reasonable here.I read several books by Liliana Hart 2 years ago, liked them but did not continue her MacKenzie family series. I remember that it was because I read too many of them in a short time, so I neede [...]

    • After a string of new adult and adult audiobooks, I wanted something different. I had heard good things about Liliana Hart's J. J. Graves Mystery series, and when I saw it was on sale, I decided that a good mystery was just what the doctor ordered. Not to mention the fact that it's Liliana Hart - I love her MacKenzie Family series. The thing is, Dirty Little Secrets is completely different from Liliana Hart's other series. J. J. Graves is a completely different heroine. It was a fun departure fr [...]

    • Dr. J.J. Graves has lost everyone she loves. None of the women in her family has lived past the age of 50. She is overly familiar with death. After both of her parents were killed in an accident, she quits her job as an ER doctor and takes over her family's mortuary business and the job of Coroner in her small community, Bloody Mary. The only person she has is her best friend, Jack, a retired FBI agent who is now the sheriff of the county. An outbreak of violent murders shake up the sleepy down [...]

    • This is the first in the series of J.J. Graves. Dr. Graves became the county medical examiner and mortician for the town of Bloody Mary, Virginia at the age of 30 after the mysterious death of her parents. After the death of her parents she learned (when the FBI came calling) that her parents had been engaged in illegal activities. Her longtime best friend, Jack, is the county sheriff, and he needs her help when a local woman is murdered. Not long after that, more murders happen and meantime, J. [...]

    • I really enjoyed Dirty Little Secrets (J.J. Graves Mystery #1) by Liliana Hart, it was a fast read and very entertaining with just the right amount of suspense and humor. The story was well written, the characters were likable, and very real. The plot included several murders, some blackmail, a budding romance and provided many laugh out loud moments for me.Since there are several detailed reviews already written for this wonderful book, I’m just going to say “I agree with what they said”, [...]

    • I couldn't resist this book--a murder mystery set in King George, VA, with a female coroner. So I moved it way up in my reading list, having spent several years working in King George County.I'm not sure the author was ever in King George, VA--or maybe she just wanted to make sure she didn't misrepresent any existing place. The county seat is named Bloody Mary (huh? wrong century!) and it has streets called Ann Boleyn and Canterbury and Heresy Lane. There's another town named Nottingham--you get [...]

    • Look out Janet Evanovich, here comes Liliana Hart!J.J. Graves is a crime solving Coroner in Bloody Mary, Virginia. She is funny, sarcastic and full of secrets. J.J. has to come back home to Bloody Mary after her parents die in a horrible accident. Well, no one knows if it was an accident or murder suicide. Not only is she trying to make a living as an Undertaker but she is also the county Coroner. She is barely making enough to stay in business. Thankfully she has her best friend Jake, the Sherif [...]
