    • I adored Deb Fitzpatrick's last YA novel Have you Seen Ally Queen so it is no surprise that she is on my "must read" list no matter what she comes up with. Here she returns to writing a male protagonist as per 90 Packets of Instant Noodles and tries out MG. She really has the authentic young male voice down pat, I genuinely believed Spencer was a real, living 12-year-old boy. And I just simply adore the "Aussieness" of her prose, earthy, poetic, honest and humorous (who can pas up the line "like [...]

    • It's okay, but not great and certainly not a "must read".I read this book as I was considering it as a gift for my nephew, who likes stories that involve survival and has already exhausted Gary Paulsen's Hatchet series, but I found it really didn't compare. It's hard to put my finger on exactly what was wrong with it, but I think it was that the pacing was all wrong. The "beginning" seemed to drag on forever (at least half the book), incuding a lot of detail about Spencer's family and friends, s [...]

    • The Amazing Spencer Gray isn't something I would usually read, in all honesty I didn't want to read it but I had to for an English assignment. I feel like the first few chapters were a bit of a slow start but towards the middle to the end i enjoyed it more, I do like Deb's writing style and I plan to read 90 Packets of Instant Noodles. The Amazing Spencer Gray starts off in a sate park with 12-yr-old Spencer hanging out with his friends, it soon moves on to tell you where he lives what his family [...]

    • Set in Western Australia in the present day, 'The Amazing Spencer Gray' is a ‘tween coming of age story. It chronicles the depths of resourcefulness, the reserves of inner strength and the limits of human endurance that twelve year old Spencer Gray experiences as he sets out on the ultimate cross-country challenge - to get help when his father's glider crashes in the Stirling Ranges. The reality of what the human spirit is capable of in adverse situations is indeed truly amazing. This boys’ ow [...]

    • The amazing spence Gray - a review by feathers This book is so slow and does at one point catch me. It's so slow and it talks about his life, his friends and his family. This information is spreader across the first half of the book. And then it finally starts to speed up towards the second half of the book. Honestly spencer doesn't seem like a special kid. It just takes to long to cut to the chase. And recommend this book to anyone.

    • Bought a class set of this to use with a Year 8 class. I'm sure they'll like it; reminds me somewhat of Hatchet which they read earlier this year.

    • I've really enjoyed this book! It was quite boring at the first part but when the plane crashed, things got more attractive.
