    • Adorable illustrations, once again from Dudley. I love the story and can see preschoolers reenacting it with stuffed animals or dollhouse figures. I marked this in my "early reader" category because I can see 1st graders enjoying reading the straightforward spare text on their own. I just wish the text/font was printed a little larger.

    • This is a pretty book but not nearly as engaging as Hank Finds An Egg. The magic of the HFAE was that there were no words which lent itself to exploration and discovery. In contrast, HHAD has text on each set of pages. I read it this evening with my near three-year-old and he repeatedly asked "Where is the egg?" When we finished reading it, he said "I don't like that book." Amusing because this is the first time he's said that about any book. And this is not exactly a criticism, but it would hav [...]

    • I have never read a book that has transported me more completely into a world both magical and comforting than "Little Fur Family" (1946), by Margaret Wise Brown with illustrations by Garth Williams. It depicts a day in the life of a furred creature of undetermined species as he ventures out into the "wild wild wood" which surrounds the "warm wooden tree" that is his home. The book's creators insightfully cast their spell without a traditional story arc by giving their small protagonist a day in [...]

    • SUMMARY: Hank the teddy bear tells his friend Hummingbird about the dream he had the night before. He dreams that he was flying in a boat carried by a balloon. Hank tells about everything he does during his flight and his favorite parts such as when he floated back down. As he tells Hummingbird about the dream, he acts it outLUSTRATIONS: The illustrations are photographs of constructions made by the author. Everything in the pictures has been constructed from the trees and grass to the flying bo [...]

    • Hank is a little brown bear and his best friend is a little humming bird. Hank begins his day by telling his friend about a dream he had. In this dream he flew. In his dream he flew high above the clouds. Young readers will enjoy following along as Hank set out on his adventure.Young readers will enjoy this delightful tale of friendship. Simple sentences are great for first time readers. The illustrations are dioramas that have realistic looking leaves, trees, clouds and more. The fantastic phot [...]

    • Come along with adorable little Hank as he opens up his dream world to share with his feathered friend and his readers. He invites you aboard his wonderful flying machine and takes you to magical places high above the clouds and below them too. His beloved friend is enthralled with the adventure and wants to know all the details of his enchanted tale. The images are beautifully crafted and portrayed in Rebecca Dudley's dioramas. She creates everything right down to the last leaf and expression o [...]

    • I am totally enamoured with Rebecca Dudley's enchanting dioramas for this title and her last, "Hank Finds an Egg". The story of Hank telling his dream to his friend the hummingbird is so lovely and sweet. The reader is drawn into the simple story and it made me wish I could float along with Hank above the Earth. The photos could provide a small child (or grown-up!) hours of examining Ms. Dudley's exquisite details. I am very much looking forward to future works by this author. Hank Has a Dream

    • Dudley’s work continues to amaze me, she works in diorama and photography–everything seen in any of the Hank books has been made by hand. Her craftsmanship and abilities as a storyteller are truly incredible. One of my favorite additions to this work is the map of “Storywoods”, Hank’s world, within the endsheets. Another addition to this work, is words: Dudley juxtaposes Hank and his friend acting out the dream with an image of the dream itself on the opposite page. Honestly, everything [...]

    • I literally cannot. EVENThis book is so cute I'm gonna die. Beautiful puppets photographed on their respective journeys portray a little bear's conversation with his friend (a humming bird) about his dream last night. Together their real journey reflects their dream journey. And. And it's so cute!

    • Age: Preschool-KindergartenAnimals: Bear, hummingbirdA delightfully creative take on portraying dreams and imagination in a picture book. As Hank tells Hummingbird about his dream on a flying ship from the night before, he relives it while storytelling it. Dudley uses the left page as the real world and the right page as his dream world. What is especially notable is that Hank holds the same poses on both sides, as Hank relives the magical experiences of his dream in the real world. Unique and w [...]

    • Hank Has a Dream would probably be a pretty good bedtime story for a little one, but I can't imagine wanting to read it to a child more than once. Honestly, I found it to be kind of boring. The art was interesting, because Rebecca Dudley creates every scene by hand and then photographs it, but it wasn't interesting enough to make up for the text, which was bland and added nothing to the photos. I think I would have enjoyed it more if it was almost entirely wordless.

    • I adored what the author did here by mirroring Hank telling Hummingbird about his dream on the left side of the book (and acting it out) and showing his dream on the right side of the book. It didn't upset me at all that this story had words, in fact, I think the story is enhanced by the addition, especially when Hummingbird asks Hank to tell the dream again. I will definitely seek out anything this author creates!

    • The picture book begins with Hank (a teddy bear) telling his friends, the hummingbird, about a dream he had the night before. The story is simply told with wonderful diorama pictures showing Hank in the present on one page, and his dream self on the second page. Creative layout with beautiful pictures!

    • Hank takes a forest walk with a hummingbird while he retells his dream from the night before. The hummingbird likes the story so much, he asks to hear it again.I like the cute little world Hank and his friends exist in and I will probably never tire of his adventures in the visual sense, though this story wasn't as strong for me as its predecessor. PreK-2.

    • While I still love Dudley's adorable felt animals photographed on gorgeous landscapes, _Hank Has a Dream_ is a sequel that does not quite live up to its predecessor. I loved how _Hank Finds an Egg_ is wordless and demonstrates keen adventurousness and kindness. This book contains words, and while the story is sweet and also contains a bear-&-bird friendship, it's not as good as the first.

    • Aw, I love Hank. I'm so glad he's back in this new picture book by Rebecca Dudley. This time he tells his friend, Hummingbird, his dream about flying. The ending begins to take us on the journey again, this time with Hummingbird. Dudley's miniature sets are just as magical in this one.

    • This one has some text. He is describing his dream to his hummingbird friend. The storytelling poses match the dream poses.

    • Opening the book, I had hoped this Hank book was wordless, like its predecessor. No such luck. Still a sweet story, but not as charming as the first.

    • This was a very short story with very few words, but the illustrations were absolutely beautiful. It would appeal to very young children and the pictures alone would hold their interest.
